Sunday, January 1, 2006 - NEW YEARS DAY:
It's been quite a year! We've labored
over our demo project and finally it's
going to happen... we're going to
release our CD! The February release
will coincide with a really cool
announcement about a project we've been
working on. We'd like to take this
opportunity to thank several people and
organizations. Thanks to Augusten
Burroughs for all the encouragement
you've given us (and the link!). We'd
also like to thank Fat Cat Guitars for
all the cool axes and gear! A very, very
special "Thanks" goes out to Larry Kriz
from LNL Recording, for whom without we
would not have been able to accomplish
our goals in the studio (Man, that Larry
is SOLID!). Of course, none of this
makes any sense without our family,
friends, and fans: Lucy, Steph, Kelly,
Cari, Jenn, Charles, all the kids & all
our fans! Also, our industry friends:
Eric Isabue, Mindy Novotny, Gordy Rinda,
Mike Manthei, and the guys at CRC
studios. And of course, the other bands
we've worked with: Man The Mighty,
Aether, Mitch Corso Band, Analog Theory,
Big Drag, The Its, Treetop Affair, and
the list goes on... A truly
special THANKS to Paul Allodi for
sitting in on keyboards with us!!! We
hope you all have a very good 2006 and
we'll see you all very soon... |
Sunday, November 13,

Sunday, September 11,
2005:
We remember 9/11. Years ago John
Adams said, and it still rings true,
"Be it remembered that liberty must at
all hazards be supported. We have a
right to it, derived from our Maker. But
if we have not, our fathers have earned
and bought it for us at the expense of
their ease, their estates, their
pleasure, and their blood."
In other news, we are working with
producer/engineer Mark Lejeune at
Chicago Recording Company. Mark has
worked with many well known artists
including Billy Corgan, Mellissa
Ethridge, and The Mannheim Steamroller.
He's helping us lift our music to the
next level. Today we put in about 12
hours laying drum tracks, bass tracks,
and many guitar tracks. This is the
final phase of the push to release our
CD "My Own Reality Show". We'll post
song clips as we finish them. Thanks
again for all your support! A special
thanks goes out to Larry Kriz at LNL
Recording for helping to lay the
groundwork for our project! |
Thursday, July 28,
2005:
Curbside Life will be back in the studio
starting next week to record DO YOU
BELIEVE IT and a new song that Free just
wrote. DO YOU BELIEVE IT was written by
Jimmy and the band has been playing it
live for several months. In other news,
CSL will be playing at Elbo Room in
Chicago on
Tuesday,
August 16th with the Mitch Corso
Band and Man the Mighty. It's going to
be a
FAT CAT night of music, so c'mon
out! |
|
Friday, June 24, 2005:
Curbside Life's song "Fall" was singled
out by #1 Best Selling author
Augusten Burroughs when he was asked
about the music he has on his iPod. Mr.
Burroughs' memoir, RUNNING WITH
SCISSORS, has been made into a movie
which stars Annette Bening, Alec Baldwin,
Gwyneth Paltrow & Joseph Cross as young
Augusten. |
Tuesday, May 24, 2005:
We really appreciate the fact that all
of our friends and family voted for us
to be the MOBfest showcase band for
whatdidimiss.com. This truly means a
lot to us and to see that we came so
close means that many of you voted
everyday. We were contacted yesterday by
a
MOBfest representative who wanted to
let us know that out of 3000 bands who
submitted demos only a certain amount
could get on the MOBfest bill. He told
us that as of yesterday they had a
handful of bands that they wanted to get
on the bill, but were unable to place.
Curbside Life was one of them. NOT BAD
for a band that is so new! Thanks to all of our "Curbies"
for showing your support! |

Friday,
May 6,
2005:
What a week! On Sunday we rehearsed at
LNL Studio with our
good friend Paul Allodi, who learned all
of our keyboard parts for the WIIL Rock
radio show.
We recorded the show on Monday at
Woodland Audio in Spring Grove, IL. It
will be aired on 95.1FM (Wisconsin,
Illinois) on Sunday, May 15th at
MIDNIGHT (c'mon, stay up to hear it!).
Then we held regular weekly rehearsals
with a bunch of really cool equipment we
picked up. We're gearing up for our
Chicago show at
Hoghead McDunna's on May 13th and we
look forward to seeing all of you there!
Oh... did we mention that we are writing
new songs? |
|
Friday, April 29,
2005:
Thanks to everyone who came out last
night to Durty Nellie's! It was good
to see some of the FoiL personnel there,
too. We're leading a pack of 18 bands
right now who are in a competition for a
showcase at
MOBfest this year. Thanks to all of
you who have voted! PLEASE
continue to
vote until May 15th when the voting
ends. Our next show is in Chicago at
Hoghead McDunna's and we're working on
our June bookings right now. Also, check back real soon for an announcement about our special radio event.

Tuesday,
March 29, 2005:
Alright, then... we have six demo tunes
up on the site. They are in various
states of "mix down" so, after we have
three more we will do a final mix on
the entire collection. We're working on
some shows for this Spring and Summer to
be held at larger than usual venues,
so check back often for new dates. We'll
be doing some traveling, so you Curbies
that are not in Chicago need to let us
know where you are and where you'd like
to see us play! Email us at
band@curbsidelife.com. |

Tuesday,
March 22, 2005:
Well, we have
2 new
tunes posted on the site, and
another on the way on Easter Sunday
(yes, we're working on the holiday to
get the tunes to our friends!). We
really worked hard on Sunday to get a
decent rough mix on FALL. In addition,
we re-recorded some guitar & vocals,
then added some keyboard tracks. You'll
notice that there are back up vocals on
that tune - that's Jimmy! You'll be
seeing a microphone behind the drums
from now on at our shows. You'll also
probably be seeing a keyboard player... |
Sunday,
March 13, 2005:
Well, we've just posted the rough mix of
our latest tune
Where I Belong on the
site. We have two more just about ready
to go and we'll be in the studio on the
20th again to put a good working mix on
those. We'll post them that night if all
goes as planned. We'll take Easter
weekend off and then be right back in
the workshop
the following week. We'll have those show
dates firmed up real soon, so keeping
checking our
Tour
page for info! |
Sunday, February 13, 2005:
We're
back in the studio and we just laid down
the rhythm tracks to 3 new demo tunes.
Free and Mojo will be in and out of the
studio for the next week or two laying
down guitar and vocal tracks. Then the
band will get together for the final
mix. Right after that we go back
in with another round of tunes in March!
Thanks for keeping the faith. |
Wednesday,
January 5, 2005:
We've won a couple of awards and
contests in the last month or so. First,
we had the Best Alternative Song of the
Week (week of 12/20/04) on
GarageBand.com. Most recently we were
named the Fostex Portal Artist of the
Month and are featured on their Web
site:
http://www.fostex.com.
We got some cool gear out of the
deal and a little exposure, so we want
to give a big shout out to the folks at
Fostex! In other news, we are still hard
at work on our demo and will be in the
studio very soon, so look for the next
round of tunes soon... |
Sunday,
December 19, 2004:
The band jumped back into the
studio and cut the tracks for BOUND, the
new song for the demo. The final mix
should be ready just in time for the new
year. Right after the holidays there
will be a marathon writing and recording
session and we anticipate a full length
demo CD shortly thereafter. Thanks to
GarageBand.com
for awarding us "Best
Alternative Song" for the week of
December 20, 2004! |
Saturday,
November 20, 2004:
Curbside Life finished up with the
final tracks for the 3 song demo
today. Then they tweaked the final
mix. The demo is available in CD form
by asking one of the members of the
band for a copy, or by sending $3.00
to cover shipping to: M K O
Publishing, L.L.C., 2549 W. Golf Road
#222, Hoffman Estates, IL 60194.
Be sure to include a note saying you
want a copy of the "My Own
Reality Show" demo. |

Curbside
Life in the Studio |
| Another
round of writing and recording
is underway, so look for more MP3s as
our repertoire expands. We'd like
to thank Larry Kriz with
LNL
Recording
for making this project a priority.
Thanks to our friends and families for
their kind words and support. It means
the world to us. |
